Spanish outlet El Desmarque have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are ‘main favourites’ to sign Real Madrid playmaker Isco this summer, but it will come at a loss.
Isco, 27, has only managed three appearances this season, with injury preventing him from featuring on a more regular basis. Of those three matches, he has only started once and it is clear that Zinedine Zidane does not see him as a crucial player.
Spurs have been loosely linked in the past with Spain international Isco, but this time around Spurs may have an upper hand in their bid to land the playmaker. Indeed, Christian Eriksen is out of contract in the summer and he could be used in a deal.
Indeed, the report claims Spurs will win the race to sign Isco from Real Madrid, if Eriksen is included in a deal that would see the Danish ace move to the Bernabeu. Bayern Munich are also interested, but Spurs are leading the race for Isco.
TBR’s view – Swapping Eriksen for Isco would be superb Spurs business
Eriksen is leaving Tottenham and there is nothing Daniel Levy or the club can do about it. However, they can still use the former Ajax midfielder as part of a plan to bring in a player – and Isco would be the perfect replacement.
Scoring 48 goals and 52 assists in 280 appearances for Real is proof that Isco is one of the best playmakers in world football. Levy needs to everything he can to orchestrate a swap deal between the two sides. Marca claim Isco is worth £69million.
