Tottenham have reportedly made a move to try sign forward Andrea Belotti from Italian club Torino, but have seen a first approach for him rejected.
Sky Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed on his official website that Spurs submitted a deal to sign the striker on an initial loan with the option of signing later on for £46.3million.
But it is understood Serie A outfit Torino have rejected that offer and would only consider any kind of exit if there was a definitive sale.
Jose Mourinho’s side would have to commit to the full purchase if they want to sign Torino’s captain, who has a brilliant goalscoring record in Italian football.
Belotti has 92 goals in 192 appearances for Torino and has been such a consistent performer for a number of season.
The 26-year-old is a bullish centre-forward that can hold the ball up well and is strong in the air, but most importantly is a clinical finisher with both feet.

TBR’s View:
It’s no secret that Spurs need to bring in a centre-forward during this summer window, as they’ve got no senior cover for their talisman in attack Harry Kane.
Belotti would surely only move to North London if he was certain of regular game-time and he’s a proven marksman that looks like he’s got all the qualities to be a success if he did come to the Premier League.
A lot of elite clubs in Europe operate with two top-class forwards in their squad and perhaps Spurs should consider a fresh move for Belotti, but they would need to fork out a large sum for him.
