Tottenham are reportedly monitoring Norwich City defender Max Aarons as a reported summer target.

According to Eurosport, Spurs have been scouting the 21-year-old during the past year and he will be on their shortlist if current player Serge Aurier leaves.

The report explains that the future of £23million (BBC) right-back Aurier is now in doubt after he stormed out of the stadium at half-time against Liverpool last week.

If Spurs do move for Aarons to replace him, they could face competition from the likes of Bayern Munich and Manchester United.

Aarons is currently playing in the Championship with Norwich, but did get a season of top-flight football under his belt last season.

The England Under-21 international is an attack-minded full-back with pace, athleticism and energy, so it’ll be a surprise if he’s not back in the Premier League next year.

TBR’s View:

Norwich sold Ben Godfrey and Jamal Lewis to Premier League clubs last summer, but it was a surprise somewhat that they managed to keep hold of Aarons.

He’s certainly not the finished article that would be able to stroll immediately into the Spurs XI, but looks a huge talent that could end up being a quality player if nurtured correctly.

The North London club should certainly look to try win the race for his signature in the summer, regardless of what plays out with Aurier’s future.
