French outlet Le Phoceen have claimed that Marseille midfielder Morgan Sanson is expected to leave Andre Villas-Boas’ side and join a Premier League club this summer – with Tottenham beating West Ham and Crystal Palace.
Sanson, 25, has enjoyed an excellent 2019-20 campaign under Villas-Boas as Marseille finished second in Ligue 1 – qualifying for the Champions League. They finished 12 points behind Paris Saint-Germain.
Central midfielder Sanson had a hand in 10 goals during 27 league games – scoring five and creating five. Villas-Boas has been informed of Tottenham’s interest among others, which is why he has moved to bring in Pape Gueye.
It is believed Marseille are keen to cash in on the former France Under-21 midfielder, in order to bring in some cash for other signings. Marseille rate Sanson at £32million, with Arsenal also loosely linked.
The report says Spurs are leading West Ham, with the player unlikely to swap Marseille – who have qualified for the Champions League – for a team that are not in Europe at all. Spurs could qualify for the Europa League.

TBR’s view – Sanson a decent buy, but hardly groundbreaking
Spurs are expected to go after a midfielder this summer. Harry Winks is a good player, as is Gio Lo Celso and Moussa Sissoko. But they are hardly Champions League quality, with Tanguy Ndombele struggling to show his record fee.
Sanson is a very good box-to-box player, and has shown he can score goals and create. But is he the kind of standard that Spurs hope for? Right now, he is probably mid-table Premier League standard. Spurs can do better.
