Report: Tottenham lead Cheslea and Guardiola in £50m chase

Ben Chilwell will have a whole host of admirers during the summer.

Tottenham are leading the race to sign £50m-rated Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell, according to the Daily Star.

Spurs will enter a battle with Chelsea and Manchester City to sign the highly-rated England international.

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho will be on the lookout for some new player during the summer, particularly at the back.

Left-back has been a problematic area for the Tottenham boss since he arrived at the club.

Ben Davies has been injured, Danny Rose has fallen out of favour, so Japhet Tanganga and Jan Vertonghen have both performed makeshift responsibilities there.

Chilwell is a product of the Leicester academy and the Foxes will value him highly.

At 23 he has the potential to be Tottenham’s left-back for many years to come if he does make the switch to North London.

Despite Leicester looking likely to reach the Champions League this season, a move to Tottenham would still be considered a step up.

It’s only a year or so ago since Spurs were fighting off all-comers on their way to a Champions League final.

With their new stadium now up and running, Mourinho will now look to add players to go with such an impressive facility.

Several of his squad have underperformed during 2019/20 and changes will be necessary during the summer.

Chilwell has 118 appearances to his name at the King Power Stadium and looks set for a big-money move at some point.

With Chelsea and Manchester City better placed for a Champions League campaign, Tottenham will need to act quickly.

Chilwell possesses real class at both ends of the pitch and boasts all the attributes of a modern-day full-back.

Tottenham need defenders and Chilwell could prove perfect for Tottenham and Mourinho.
