Tottenham Hotspur are considering a move for Cheick Doucoure having been seduced by the form of the Lens midfielder this season, according to a report from Jeunes Footeux.

Doucoure has been excellent in Ligue 1 this season. Only nine players have won more tackles than the 22-year-old in the top-flight so far this term, according to FB Ref.

It was reported that Arsenal wanted the Mali international last summer. Reports claimed that the Gunners viewed Doucoure as a potential backup to Thomas Partey.

But Jeunes Footeux suggested that Tottenham considered a bid of up to £16.9 million for the youngster last summer. However, they ultimately pursued other targets.

But that has not led to Doucoure being taken off of their list. Jeunes Footeux reports that Tottenham plan to keep a very close eye on the midfielder. They have apparently been seduced by his form this season.

Doucoure could be a hugely exciting signing for Tottenham

Doucoure appears to tick a lot of the boxes for an Antonio Conte side. He works incredibly hard for Lens as the more defensively-minded player in his partnership with Seko Fofana in the middle of the park.

But he is also capable of making an impact further forward. He has three assists in Ligue 1 this season. And he is one of the best in Europe when it comes to driving forward with the ball at his feet.

FB Ref lists Marcelo Brozović and Leandro Paredes as similar players based on his statistics. Interestingly, both players have been linked with Tottenham in recent times.

Doucoure has only just turned 22. So he obviously has the potential to improve considerably in the years ahead.

Tottenham have been left impressed by his form this season. And surely, Doucoure will struggle to turn the Premier League side down should they come calling while Conte is at the helm.
