Roma are hoping to sell midfielder Amadou Diawara this summer and Tottenham Hotspur are named as one team potentially interested in his services.

A report from Il Messaggero is claiming that the Guinea international is considered expendable at the Stadio Olimpico this summer and that Tottenham are keen.

However, there is one big stumbling block. The report claims that Roma would want €30 million (£27m) for the player, a fee Tottenham reportedly have absolutely no interest in spending.

Tottenham have been linked with a move for the 22-year-old before, as have several other Premier League teams.

The midfield dynamo has struggled with meniscus problems this season but when fit has been a regular member of the Roma starting XI.

But with the global health crisis putting pressure on Roma to sell some assets, they are considering Diawara as a potentially perfect option to move on.

As for Tottenham, they are known to be in the market for a defensive midfielder this summer to free up Eric Dier to become a full-time centre-back and allow Harry Winks and Moussa Sissoko to move further forward.

With serious doubts over Tanguy Ndombele’s future, a deal for Diawara certainly makes sense.

However, for now, it would appear there is quite a distance between the two clubs in regards to the player’s price-tag.
