Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly joined the race to sign AC Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek.
As reported by The Guardian, Spurs are pushing to bring in another number nine this month given the injury to Harry kane, and Poland international Piatek has emerged as an option.
Piatek’s immediate future is in doubt with the Rossoneri having just re-signed Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The veteran will surely take Piatek’s place in the starting XI, with the 24-year-old having been in poor form this season.
The £30 million signing from Genoa has netted just four times in 18 appearances in 2019/20 so far.
The Guardian say Spurs would prefer a loan move, suggesting they see him only as a means of covering Kane’s absence.
TBR’s view – Piatek a risk worth taking
Piatek has not had a good season so far, but Spurs securing a loan deal could potentially be a good move.
When he first joined Milan, Piatek demonstrated superb predatory instincts, hitting 11 goals in his first 21 appearances.
His record of 19 goals in just 21 games at Genoa is further proof he’s a talented player.
Right now he seems to need a fresh start somewhere, and Spurs could take advantage of the fact he has something to prove.
