Italian newspaper Gazzetta Dello Sport have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur have joined the race to sign Sassuolo ace Manuel Locatelli. Plenty of big clubs are keen including Arsenal, Mauricio Pochettino’s PSG, Manchester City and plenty more. Now, Tottenham want him.

Locatelli, 23, has starred for Sassuolo over the last three season – clocking up a whopping 99 appearances for the Serie A outfit. His form has seen him become somewhat of a regular in Roberto Mancini’s Italy side of late. He won his eleventh cap, as Italy beat Turkey in their Euro 2020 opener.

He might have played his last game for Sassuolo, though. That is because Europe’s biggest clubs are keen. Locatelli is rated at £35million by Sassuolo according to GDS. In their latest report, they say Spurs have joined the race to sign him. They say that Fabio Paratici ‘knows the dynamics’ of the deal.

Locatelli would be a brilliant signing for Tottenham as Paratici joins race

Locatelli is a top, top player. Tottenham need a top, top midfielder. With Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg the ideal defensive midfielder, Spurs need one alongside him that can progress the play into attack. One wiht a box-to-box engine. Locatelli is the ideal man for the job.

More attacking than a number four but more conservative than a 10, Locatelli is the perfect mix of midfielder that Spurs are crying out for. Tanguy Ndombele and Gio Lo Celso are too attacking, while Moussa Sissoko and Harry Winks are just not good enough. Locatelli is the solution.
