Tottenham are reportedly interested in Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka, but face big competition for his signature.

According to the Daily Mail, Spurs are one of the teams that are keen on landing the 30-year-old this summer.

It is understood that Premier League rivals Aston Villa are leading the pursuit for him, while Manchester United, Monaco and Porto are also in the hunt.

The report details that he’s valued at around £12million and teams want to capitalise on the managerless situation at St James’ Park.

Dubravka is believed to be unsettled by the exit of manager Rafael Benitez and talks over a new deal with Newcastle have stalled.

TBR’s View:

Dubravka is an attractive target for several this summer if he is to depart Newcastle, but interest from Spurs is slightly bizarre.

Spurs already have French World Cup winner Hugo Lloris has their number one in-between their sticks and he doesn’t need replacing for the new season.

Meanwhile, Paulo Gazzaniga is a quality back-up option waiting in reserve at the North London club and has stepped in well several times last season.

Dubravka definitely has the quality to make an impact at a top-six club, but the Spurs links seem odd and it would be a surprise they sign him.
