Report: Tottenham interested in a transfer for Bonucci
Tottenham Hotspur want to sign Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci this transfer window.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, the club are keen on signing Bonucci from the Old Lady. Their eagerness to sign the Italy international has grown over the last few weeks.
Reports emerged last night that the Lilywhites had called off their interest in the former Chelsea man due to worries over his demands. Conte is also thought to have reservations over the ambitions of the north London outfit.
Bonucci and his partner Giorgio Chiellini was once labelled ‘amazing‘ by Jose Mourinho.
Tottenham coup: Bonucci transfer would be similar to recent Premier League transfers
Over the last few years, some of Spurs’ rivals have benefitted from signing experienced centre-halves.
Arsenal started off the trend with the transfer of David Luiz from Chelsea. The Brazilian had a massive impact in north London, leading the Gunners to FA Cup victory.
Luiz also helped shepherd some of the club’s youngsters with a raft of them praising the 34-year-old.
Meanwhile, Thiago Silva has had a profound effect in west London. In just one season, the former Paris Saint Germain defender has reached the FA Cup and Champions League finals.
Ashley Cole lauded Bonucci claiming he brought a calmness to the Chelsea defence.
Bonucci’s endless list of achievements can only help a Spurs side deprieved of top-end experience.
The Italian has won multiple major honours and reached two Champions League finals.
He still proves to be an outstanding defender and would bring a similar aura of calmness to the Spurs defender.
However, with the club’s finances stretched, a transfer for Bonucci could prove difficult for Tottenham.
