Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit of Pedro Porro has put Barcelona on alert, with Record in Portugal reporting that the Catalan giants have asked for additional information as they consider making a bid in the summer.
Porro looks destined to leave Sporting in either this window or at the end of the season. He has been heavily linked with Spurs.

Fabrizio Romano reported this week that the 23-year-old is their top target for the right wing-back role at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Barcelona alerted by Tottenham interest in Pedro Porro
Meanwhile, Record reports that Spurs are prepared to more than double Porro’s wages at Sporting. And the situation could be taken out of Sporting’s hands as his contract has a £40 million release clause.

However, Tottenham do not have a clear run to his signature. According to another report from Record, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid have been alerted by Spurs’ interest in Porro.
Tottenham’s interest has alarmed the two La Liga sides. And thus, the pair have asked for further information about Porro in the hope of potentially making their own bids at the end of the season.
It will be interesting to see whether Barcelona’s interest has any impact on Tottenham’s pursuit. They will be wary of missing out on Porro if he is indeed their top target in that position.
He is a Spaniard. And he may be tempted by the chance to return to Catalonia having previously played for Girona.
Spurs know what they need to do to land Porro this month. Obviously, they may not want to pay £40 million. But it is a figure that Tottenham would be able to afford.
Barcelona’s interest says a lot about his potential. And they have shown in the past that they are able to bring in players no matter what is being written about them.
So Spurs are potentially taking a risk leaving the door open for another side to come in.
