Report: Tottenham in three-way fight for Vitoria defender Abdul Mumin
Tottenham are reportedly in a three-way battle for the signature of Abdul Mumin at Portuguese top-flight side Vitoria.
According to the Sun, Spurs are interested in the 22-year-old defender alongside Premier League rivals Aston Villa and Newcastle United.
It is understood that he would cost around £15million to sign, and the English trio have all registered an interest in him.
Mumin, who only joined Vitoria from Danish side Nordsjaelland last year, has established himself as an important first-team player this season.
He’s made 26 first team appearances, with the Sun describing him as a “quick” as well as “dominant in the air”.
Regardless of whoever is in charge at Spurs next year as manager, they need to look at bringing in some defensive signings if they can.
They have so many options with the likes of Toby Alderweireld, Joe Rodon, Davinson Sanchez and Eric Dier. However, they haven’t had any stability in the heart of defence and need to find that desperately if they are to improve to get back towards competing near the top end of the table.
If they can tighten up a little defensively, they do have the firepower going forward with the likes of Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son to cause anyone problems.
