Tottenham are in advanced talks with Bournemouth over a deal to send Cameron Carter-Vickers to the club on a season-long loan deal.
According to Sky Sports (Live feed, 17:15), the USA international is set to join the Cherries on a loan deal as Jose Mourino clears the path for the defender to move away from the club.
Spurs are also set to sign Joe Rodon from Swansea, meaning Carter-Vickers’ chances of ever playing under Mourinho look even slimmer.
The 22-year-old has enjoyed loan spells away from the club before. The centre-back having already spent time with the likes of Sheffield United, Stoke, and Luton Town in his career already.
Bournemouth have been keen to add a new defender themselves after losing Nathan Ake to Manchester City. Carter-Vickers, then, could well go straight into the first XI for Jason Tindall’s side.
A move that needed to happen – TBR View
This is good for USA star and a move that had to come about or he risked seeing his career rot away a bit.
Carter-Vickers has all the attributes to be a good defender. He’s athletic, quick, strong, and decent enough with the ball at his feet.
The big issue is whether those qualities transcend into him being Premier League level. Another season away, this time with a club expected to chase for promotion, should do him the world of good both for now and future seasons.
