Report: Tottenham in race to sign Sergio Reguilon who has been told he can leave Real Madrid

Tottenham Hotspur remain interested in signing Sergio Reguilon from Real Madrid, according to reports in Spain. 

Spurs have been linked with a move for the player already this summer after his impressive season on loan at Sevilla. The Spaniard was in fantastic form for Los Nervionenses last season, helping them win the Europa League. 

Now, according to MARCA, Tottenham are one of the teams leading the race to sign the 23-year-old. 

The report claims that Reguilon has no place in the current Real Madrid squad, with Zinedine Zidane happy with the options he has in Marcelo and Ferland Mendy.

Therefore, Reguilon is up for grabs. Chelsea were keen, but have signed Ben Chilwell instead, putting Tottenham at the head of the queue with the likes of Manchester United, Inter Milan, and Juventus. 

The report claims that Real would be looking to sell Reguilon for a fee in the region of €20-25 million (£18m-£22m), a decent price for a player who looked so impressive in Sevilla’s European run. 

Tottenham look set to sign Matt Doherty as their new right-back in the coming days but with Danny Rose’s future uncertain, could still be in need of a suitable alternative to Ben Davies in the left-back role. 

Reguilon might just be the perfect option.
