Spanish outlet El Desmarque have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur could finally bring Gareth Bale back to north London in a deal that could see Christian Eriksen go the other way, with the Dane out of contract in the summer.
Bale, 30, has become a hate figure for Real Madrid fans – worsened by a banner that read ‘Wales. Golf. Madrid. In that order’. It is clear that the Welshman is looking to leave the Spanish giants, especially given he and Zinedine Zidane struggle to get on.
The attacker joined Real back in the summer of 2013 after earning fan favourite status at Spurs, after scoring 56 and creating 58 in 203 Tottenham outings. Since being at Real, he has scored 104 goals and laid on 67 assists in 244 Madrid matches.
Now, the report claims Tottenham are willing to splash out £25.7million for Bale – and include Eriksen in a deal to bring Bale back to Spurs. It is also claimed that Mourinho is contact with the Real Madrid superstar.
TBR’s view – Bale-Eriksen-plus-cash deal makes complete sense
Tottenham would be signing a player that would boost their chances of winning a trophy this season, and finishing in the top four. It would also solve the conumdrum of losing Eriksen, as Spurs look to avoid losing him for nothing next June.
Real Madrid would be getting a top-quality player in Eriksen and a substantial amount of cash, as well as saving plenty on wages – with Bale earning £350,000 a week. For Bale, he returns to a side where he will feel wanted.
