Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are ready to splash a whopping £45million to sign RB Leipzig midfielder Marcel Sabitzer to replace Tanguy Ndombele – who continues to be linked with the exit door.
Ndombele, 23, remains on Barcelona’s shortlist and has done ever since Spurs brought the France international to north London from Lyon in the summer of 2019 for a club-record fee. He has been in and out of the Spurs side since.
An excellent start under Mauricio Pochettino was followed by a difficult end to the 2019-20 campaign under Jose Mourinho. This season, he has rejuvenated his Spurs spell but only got 45 minutes against Leicester – and was unused at Liverpool.
The report claims Barcelona remain interested and if such a move occurs, Spurs have their replacement – in the form of Leipzig’s Sabitzer. It is claimed Spurs are willing to pay as much as £45million to sign the Austrian midfielder in January.

TBR’s view – Sabizter in, Ndombele out, good business?
Yes. Ndombele is a top player and is capable of utter magic. He has produced as much during his time at Tottenham, but not often enough. Consistency is lacking, like many players under the guidance of Mourinho. Dele Alli is another example.
Selling Ndombele to fund a move for Sabitzer is good business. The Austrian has a bit more experience, and a bit more consistency. Similar players, Sabitzer can take Spurs to the next level as Tottenham’s attacking midfielder.
