Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur want to sign Illya Zabarnyi in the January transfer window.

That is according to The Mirror, which has noted Bournemouth’s stance on the defender.

Tottenham Hotspur linked with Bournemouth defender Illya Zabarnyi

Well, according to The Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur want to sign Illya Zabarnyi from Premier League rivals Bournemouth in the summer of 2023.

Tottenham wanted to sign the defender in 2022 when he was at Dynamo Kyiv. The 21-year-old joined Bournemouth in January 2023 for £20 million.

Spurs, who have been linked with Everton defender Jarrad Branthwaite, have continued to keep tabs on Zabarnyi and have been impressed by his performances in the Premier League.

The Mirror has noted that Tottenham’s recruitment staff have been impressed by Zabarnyi. Fabio Paratici, who is still working for Tottenham on a consultancy basis, is “a huge admirer” of the youngster as well. Yozhef Sabo rates him highly.

However, Tottenham would not find it easy to get a deal done in January. The Mirror has claimed that Bournemouth “have no interest in a sale” in the middle of the season.

Tottenham could struggle to sign Zabarnyi in January

In my view, Tottenham Hotspur may not be able to sign Illya Zabarnyi from Bournemouth in the January transfer window.

I do not think that the Cherries are going to sell any of their best players in the middle of the season, and that includes Zabarnyi.

The 21-year-old has played 16 times in the Premier League for Bournemouth this season. The Ukraine international centre-back made three starts and two substitute appearances in the league for the Cherries during the second half of the last campaign.

Tottenham are aiming to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season.
