Tottenham Hotspur were one of the clubs watching Vedat Muriqi in action on Saturday. According to Turkish media outlet Sabah, Tottenham and three Italian clubs had scouts watching Muriqi play for Kosovo against the Czech Republic.
Kosovo won 2-1 and Muriqi scored the equaliser after 20 minutes. That is his third goal of the season after netting twice in his first three games for Fenerbahce. It is no surprise to see clubs watching him in action.
Muriqi only moved to Fenerbahce this summer, though. The towering 6ft 4in striker signed a four-year deal at Fenerbahce after netting 25 goals in 52 games for Caykur Rizespor. Now, he is attracting attention from some top European teams.
As well as Tottenham, Serie A trio Fiorentina, Lazio and Napoli sent representatives to check on Muriqi. The 25-year-old caught the eye with a goal and he will now face England on Tuesday evening.
Muriqi offers a unique threat with his aerial dominance but the real test of his ability will be against England. The physical centre-forward will receive less of the ball so he needs to use it wisely when it comes.
Tottenham could do with another striker to provide back-up to Harry Kane. Losing Fernando Llorente was a blow because he offers a target from the bench. Muriqi would fit the mould as a similar type of player and his goal record in Turkey has been impressive. This might be worth a punt, although Fenerbahce will probably demand big money.
