Tottenham Hotspur are ready to sell Emerson Royal for a loss, with Inter Live reporting that Antonio Conte is unconvinced by him.

Spurs look set to dip into the market this month and improve Conte’s options at right wing-back.

The north Londoners have been heavily linked with a move for Sporting Lisbon star Pedro Porro, while Royal could be heading out the exit door before the window ends.

The Brazilian was brought to the club back for around £25.8 million in the summer of 2021 (BBC) and was signed to play as a full-back under Nuno Espirito Santo.

But of course, the Portuguese boss was dismissed and replaced by Conte just 10 games into the Premier League season. And Royal has not managed to adjust to playing in a more advanced role under the Italian.

Now, it seems that Spurs are ready to take a loss in order to move the player on this month.

Inter Live reports that Conte has been left unconvinced by Royal’s performances since taking over at Tottenham.

The 23-year-old is attracting interest from Inter Milan and Simone Inzaghi could move for the player as they anticipate the possibility of losing Denzel Dumfries.

The outlet claims that Tottenham will ask for no more than around £22 million for the wing-back, meaning they’ll lose at least £3 million if Royal moves on.

Royal recently told Football.London that he wants to stay at Tottenham and continue to work on his game.

The defender can’t be faulted for his effort on the pitch but he lacks the quality required to play as a wing-back in Conte’s system.

Tottenham are in desperate need of upgrades at right wing-back and unfortunately for Royal, he seems like the most dispensable player for Conte.

Doherty has shown in glimpses that he can provide an attacking threat down the right-hand side, while summer signing Djed Spence is yet to get his opportunity but is more of an option for the future.

Spurs will be eyeing a potential deal for Porro but they will need to move on at least one of their right wing-backs before they can bring another in.
