The Telegraph have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Swansea City manager Steve Cooper ahead of the summer, with the Welsh boss added to a shortlist that also includes Roberto Martinez, Gareth Southgate and others.
Topping the shortlist to replace Jose Mourinho is RB Leipzig manager Julian Nagelsmann, who has been linked with Tottenham for some time. Reports on Tuesday stated that the 33-year-old German is interested in a move to North London.
However, Spurs do not only have Nagelsmann on their summer shortlist. International managers Martinez and Southgate – who have impressed with Belgium and England – are also being considered. Along those names, is Swansea’s Cooper.
Cooper – who masterminded England Under-17’s World Cup success in 2019 – has since starred as Swansea boss. He delivered the Welsh side into last season’s play-offs, and is likely to do the same this season. He managed Joe Rodon in his first season.

TBR’s view – Cooper showing potential, but others better suited
Cooper is a top, top manager that is expected to have a big future in the Premier League. Looking in the Championship, Cooper is certainly one of the best options. But over the likes of Nagelsmann, Southgate or Martinez? Cooper is well down the order.
Perhaps sometime in the future, 41-year-old Cooper could be the new manager but right now – his lack of experience or calibre in terms of managing at the top level will not go down well with Spurs fans. They will want a more high-profile appointment.
