Tottenham reportedly want to sign South American midfielder Gerson from Brazilian top-flight club Flamengo.
According to 90min, Spurs have held talks about a potential swoop for the 22-year-old and want to wrap up a deal before the January window opens.
It is understood that they would be prepared to sign him in January but send him back on loan to Flamengo for the rest of this season.
Gerson is a central midfielder that spent three years in Italy with Roma, which also included a loan spell at Fiorentina.
The Brazilian returned to his homeland in the summer, but it looks like he could be offered a quick route back to European football by Jose Mourinho’s Spurs.

TBR’s View:
Mourinho has made quite the impact at Spurs since his appointment and there is nothing wrong with how his team are attacking.
But defensively they could do with sharpening up and they still look vulnerable in midfield, something which is a concern ahead of facing Chelsea.
Harry Winks, Eric Dier and Moussa Sissoko are all decent options in the centre of the park, but they could do with some more star quality and summer signing Tanguy Ndombele is someone that is yet to really hit top gear yet.
It’s unclear on if Gerson is the right target for Spurs, but they seem keen after initiating discussions and could be an unearthed gem.
