Tottenham Hotspur have made it clear to Juventus in the last few days that they are willing to make a bid for Matthijs de Ligt, with Sport noting that Chelsea and Barcelona also want the Dutchman.

De Ligt has not had the easiest time since joining the Old Lady. He initially cost £67.8 million. And Sport suggests that the Serie A side are ready to sell the 22-year-old to bring some money in.

He reportedly boasts a release clause of £127 million. However, Sport claims that his asking price could actually be a lot closer to £42.3 million (€50 million).

Interestingly, it would appear that Tottenham have already made their first move in their pursuit of the youngster. The report suggests that Spurs have been in contact with Juve to inform them of their desire to sign de Ligt. They are apparently prepared to bid ‘very hard’ to get him.

Meanwhile, Chelsea and Barca are also pursuing the former Ajax sensation.

Tottenham signing Matthijs de Ligt would highlight power of Antonio Conte appointment

Tottenham have previously been linked with de Ligt. It was suggested in the summer that the centre-back was on the radar, with Fabio Paratici in place in North London.

Paratici had landed de Ligt for Juve. And it was claimed that the Spurs director was eyeing a reunion following his arrival at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Understandably, the supporters were incredibly excited about those links. And with Antonio Conte now at the helm, those excitement levels are only likely to increase.

The ceiling for what Spurs can now do in the transfer market has arguably raised with the Italian in charge. And few statements would be greater than bringing de Ligt to the Premier League in one of the upcoming windows.
