Report: Tottenham have now made enquiry for Denzel Dumfries
Tottenham Hotspur have now made enquiries about signing Denzel Dumfries, with 90min reporting that Inter Milan may look to sell the Dutchman during the January transfer window.
Spurs are well-stocked at right-back right now. However, it is fair to say that it has been a problem position for Antonio Conte this season.
He has predominantly stuck by Emerson Royal. But the Brazilian has been out of form and come in for a lot of criticism. Meanwhile, he does not appear to have huge faith in either Matt Doherty or Djed Spence.
Tottenham make Dumfries enquiry
90min reports that Spence is likely to be loaned out. Meanwhile, either Doherty or Emerson could be sold in January. And with that, Tottenham are considering potential replacements.
The man they want is Dumfries. According to 90min, Tottenham have made enquiries about the 26-year-old.
Inter need to bring money in amid financial concerns. So they are prepared to sell the ‘amazing‘ Netherlands international during the winter window. However, 90min suggests that they would ideally like to keep him at San Siro on loan for the rest of the season.
Spurs however, would like to take Dumfries immediately given their issues in that area of the field.
It has been suggested that Inter value the former PSV Eindhoven star at £35 million. So he would certainly command a significant sum.
But Tottenham may perhaps feel that there is an opportunity to reach a compromise given the Nerazzurri’s financial situation.
Dumfries has not had the easiest time at Inter. Certainly, he has not quite been able to replicate his PSV form with Inter. With the Dutch side, he managed 36 goal involvements in 124 games in all competitions.
In fairness, he has still managed 17 in 65 with Inter. So you can understand why Tottenham may be interested.
And with Inter needing to sell, perhaps there is scope for a real bargain.
