Report: Tottenham have now made approach for £17m Ndombele replacement

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Sofyan Amrabat, with the Daily Mail reporting that Fabio Paratici has now made an enquiry for the Fiorentina midfielder.

Tottenham look set to be one side who ramp up their transfer plans in the next few days. Surprisingly, the club are yet to provide Antonio Conte with a new signing.

A move for Adama Traore is in the works. Meanwhile, it also appears that Tottenham have got the ball rolling as they look to strengthen in the middle of the park.

The Daily Mail reports that they have made an enquiry for Amrabat. The Fiorentina midfielder is currently away on international duty with Morocco. However, he has not had the best time since joining the Serie A side.

The Mail notes that he cost I Viola £17 million from Club Bruges. However, he has gone on to only make one start in the Serie A this season. He has featured 10 further times from the bench.

Loan for Amrabat could be shrewd business for Tottenham

It is not clear what kind of deal Tottenham are pursuing. But it would not be a surprise if Paratici felt that a loan move made a lot more sense at this stage. Fabrizio Romano has previously suggested that he could replace Tanguy Ndombélé in North London.

The 25-year-old has barely played this season. In fact, he has managed just over 200 minutes on the pitch across all of his top-flight appearances.

Fiorentina cannot expect to recoup anything like what they spent on the midfielder. But they would surely see the benefit of a loan that allows Amrabat to build his stock back up.

Tottenham also probably do not need to spend some of their budget on signing a holding midfielder permanently. They arguably need greater creativity. And Amrabat has not really been that kind of player since his time at Utrecht at the start of his career.

Perhaps Tottenham believe that Fiorentina are missing a trick and believe that there is a lot more to come from the international.
