Report: Tottenham have made big offer to ‘extraordinary’ Barcelona-linked midfielder, out of contract in summer

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly made a ‘very powerful’ offer to try and sign Franck Kessie at the end of the season.

Spurs were heavily linked with the AC Milan midfielder in the January transfer window.

Indeed, Tottenham reportedly tried their luck last month with an offer which involved Tanguy Ndombele going the other way.

In the end, Kessie stayed put in Italy – little surprise really, given his quality and Milan’s Serie A title tilt.

As things stand, the 25-year-old looks set to leave at the end of the season, with his contract expiring in June.

Indeed, Kessie can already sign a pre-contract agreement with a club outside of Italy.

Milan have reportedly been trying to get him to pen fresh terms but continue to fall short of his salary demands.

Over the past few days, the Spanish media have been taking an interest in the Ivorian’s future.

As well as Spurs, Barcelona have reportedly sounded out Kessie.

On Friday, Sport – via Sport Witness – claimed Tottenham ‘have already presented a very powerful offer for the midfielder’.

Indeed, Spurs ‘could end up winning the bid with a high salary and transfer bonus’.

Sport add that Kessie will simply go to ‘the highest bidder’.

In addition, Fabio Paratici apparently ‘knows him very well and already wanted him for Juventus’.

Therefore, the expectation is the Spurs director ‘would prioritise his arrival in the Premier League as a strategic operation’.

Can Tottenham land the “extraordinary” Kessie?

A player of Kessie’s calibre would bolster the Spurs ranks considerably.

Meanwhile, Gennaro Gattuso said Kessie is “clearly stronger” than he was as a player.

Better still, Tottenham can land his signature right away ahead of a summer move, and he won’t cost a penny in transfer fees.

However, with the likes of Barca reportedly lurking, Spurs will need to pull out all the stops to land Kessie.
