The Sun have claimed that Jose Mourinho and Tottenham Hotspur have joined Arsenal and Everton in the race to sign Brazilian veteran Thiago Silva – after it was confirmed he would be leaving French champions PSG.
The 35-year-old centre-back is set to see his contract expire at the end of the month, and French newspaper L’Equipe recently reported that he would leave PSG. Now, PSG director Leonardo has confirmed he will be exiting.
Mourinho is said to be after a central defender with Jan Vertonghen in a similar predicament to Silva, as his contract ends on June 30. It is believed Silva is earning an enormous £350,000 a week at PSG, as per The Sun.
However, not only would Spurs have to convince Silva to take a pay cut – but they also face competition from north London rivals Arsenal and Everton, who could form a reunion between Silva and Carlo Ancelotti.

TBR’s view – Which club needs to sign Silva the most?
Tottenham could certainly do with a player like Silva. A leader, strong in the air, physical and very comfortable on the ball – Silva is a no-brainer if the club can convince him to fall in line with the club’s current wage structure.
However, Spurs already boast a similar defender to Silva in Toby Alderweireld, while also having Davinson Sanchez, Eric Dier and Japhet Tanganga as options. Though Spurs need a defender, they are not absolutely desperate.
Everton have a lack of options and could do with Silva, with Yerry Mina, Michael Keane and Mason Holgate the club’s only options. But surely Arsenal’s centre-back woes over the past decade suggests they need Silva most.
