Report: Tottenham have been scouting PSV Eindhoven star Cody Gakpo
Tottenham Hotspur have been scouting Cody Gakpo with Antonio Conte potentially looking to sign another wide forward during the January transfer window, according to a report from ESPN.
Gakpo is certainly going to be one player to watch next month. He has been unbelievable for PSV Eindhoven this season, with 13 goals and 17 assists in all competitions.
And he followed that with a superb showing for the Netherlands at the World Cup. Gakpo scored in each of their group games in Qatar as they reached the quarter-finals. Only eventual winners Argentina could knock them out of the tournament on a penalty shootout.

It now appears that Gakpo could be on his way to the Premier League. 90min suggested this week that Manchester United are eyeing a move. And PSV are open to letting him go for a club-record fee of £45 million.
That opens the door for a potential bargain. So it is no surprise that Erik ten Hag is not the only Premier League boss eyeing the 23-year-old.
In fact, ESPN reports that Tottenham have been scouting Gakpo. It is noted that they could look to try and sign a wide forward while the window is open.
Clearly, the report from 90min would suggest that Manchester United are on pole position to sign Gakpo. Linking up with ten Hag will also be very appealing to the Dutch youngster.
But plenty of Spurs fans would love it if they could convince Gakpo to join them. He has taken his game to another level in recent months. And he has now shone on the world stage.
He is a ‘special‘ talent who has the potential to really step up in the Premier League. And at £45 million, he could be an inspired addition.
