Tottenham are reportedly interested in Norwich city defender Ben Godfrey, who helped them secure promotion from the Championship this season as title winners.
According to the Daily Mail, Spurs have joined Manchester United in eyeing the 21-year-old rising talent.
It is understood that Spurs scouts have been impressed by the Englishman and they feel the versatile ace could have make an impact in the midfield of Mauricio Pochettino’s team.
The Mirror reported in February that Norwich’s enforcer was valued at £10million, with Manchester United, Lyon, Arsenal and RB Leipzig all keen on him back then.
Godfrey played 36 games across all competitions for Norwich this campaign and was a mainstay in a defence that helped them secure promotion to the top flight.
Godfrey definitely matches the profile of a Spurs signing, as he’s a young English talent that Pochettino could help take his game to another level.
He looks ready to make the step up to the top-flight next season, but he may be better off with Norwich for the next year to see how he copes.
The ball-playing centre-back is confident in possession and it will be interesting to see if he can bring the same calmness against better opponents.
Spurs also believe he could slot in as a defensive midfielder and he’s got the qualities to his game to try that out.
