Tottenham have reportedly entered the pursuit to try sign attacker Said Benrahma from Brentford, who recently suffered defeat in the Championship play-off final.

According to the Mirror, Spurs are now in the hunt for the highly-rated 24-year-old alongside a Premier League pack of West Ham, Leeds United, Aston Villa, Chelsea and Arsenal.

The Algerian has lit up the Championship this campaign with his dazzling skill in the final third and that has seen a host of top-flight clubs queue up for his signature.

The report explains that Brentford value their star man at £25million, but a price tag of around £16million is now considered a more realistic sum after they failed to earn promotion.

Benrahma finished the season with 17 goals and 10 assists in 46 games across all competitions for his side, something that made him a real standout in the second-tier.

He is a skilful left-winger with accurate close control and an eye for goal too, plus he’s been a part of a formidable frontline in the most recent campaign.

TBR View – Do Spurs need another winger?

Benrahma looked destined to be playing Premier League football next season and he could have a big decision to make about his future this summer.

Spurs boss Jose Mourinho already has a wealth of options in wide areas within his squad, with the likes of Heung-Min Son, Lucas Moura, Erik Lamela and Steven Bergwin available.

Benrahma is unlikely to walk into the starting XI if he joined the north London club, but he could be a serious bargain around the mooted £16million fee and perhaps an investment worth making.

The winger has all the potential to be a hit in the Premier League, especially if he can recapture the same form he’s shown in the past couple of seasons.
