Tottenham Hotspur defender Kieran Trippier has emerged as a possible target for German giants Bayern Munich.

According to Sky Sports, the Bavarians have identified Trippier as a potential option this summer having scouted him last term, but want him as backup for Joshua Kimmich.

Englishman Trippier has been made available for transfer this summer after a disappointing campaign in 2018/19.

The 28-year-old excelled at the World Cup finals in Russia last year, but his club form then plunged dramatically.

Despite that, interest in £65,000-a-week star Trippier (Spotrac) has been high, with Juventus, Napoli and Atletico Madrid having all been linked so far this summer.

Sky Germany claim Bayern would prefer to move for AS Monaco defender Benjamin Henrichs as he can also play left-back.

It’s good news for Spurs that yet another big club from Europe is attentive to Trippier’s availability.

Henrichs may be more of a priority, but there’s a chance the German champions may end up moving for the former Burnley man.

Maybe Bayern are considering Trippier to give them the option of playing with three central defenders and wing-backs.

In an ideal world for Spurs a tug-of-war will break out over the player, which will increase Spurs’ chances of getting a higher fee, which can then be reinvested into his replacement.
