The Telegraph have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur could allow Ryan Sessegnon to leave the club on loan this summer, with Jose Mourinho seemingly unwilling to blood the highly-rated left-footer.
Since the return to football, Sessegnon has failed to play a single minute. An unused sub against Manchester United and West Ham, he has failed to make the 20-man squad at Sheffield United and on Monday against Everton.
The 20-year-old has managed just 12 Tottenham appearances since his £25million move from Fulham, where he scored 25 goals in 120 appearances – and clocked up 18 assists, despite playing on the wing and at left-back.
The latest report states that while they rate England Under-21 star Sessegnon highly, Spurs are aware that he needs game time to develop and are willing to sanction a loan for the attacking ace.
TBR’s view – Harsh on Sessegnon?
Extremely, but the change in manager has not helped the former Fulham star. Mauricio Pochettino was clearly a supporter of Sessegnon, and was linked in numerous windows with the left-sided talent.
Injuries at the beginning of his Spurs career, a change in manager and then the global health crisis have left Sessegnon with little hope of replicating his Fulham form. But a loan is needed.
