Tottenham Hotspur could reportedly make a move for Marcelo Brozovic in January, with the player having supposedly been put up for sale.

Calciomercato have claimed that the 55-cap Croatia maestro has emerged as a transfer target for Jose Mourinho.

Once a key cog for I Nerazzurri, Brozovic is no longer considered indispensable by Antonio Conte, and the Italian giants will apparently listen to offers for the midfielder, who’s been at the club since 2015.

Calciomercato say there is clear interest from Tottenham, who were loosely linked with the player during the international transfer window.

There had been rumours of a swap deal involving Tanguy Ndombele, but Spurs fans will be pleased the Frenchman was retained after his promising start to 2020/21.

Should Tottenham make an approach for the 27-year-old, then they could face competition from AS Monaco, the report claims.

Mourinho has a plethora of quality options in midfield at the moment, including Ndombele, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Harry Winks, Moussa Sissoko and Giovani Lo Celso, with Eric Dier also able to operate in the engine room.

Why Mourinho would need someone else doesn’t quite add up

That said, Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips was also linked with a move to Spurs over the weekend, so one wonders if there’s a player Mourinho isn’t totally convinced by.
