Tottenham are reportedly focused on improving their options at right-back in the January transfer window.

According to the Daily Mail, Spurs will prioritise adding a new full-back in January and manager Mauricio Pochettino wants players with high energy that can fit his system.

It is understood that Max Aarons at Premier League club Norwich City is one potential target, while Nathan Ferguson at Championship outfit West Brom is another.

The report explains that Pochettino wants to create a similar scenario to when he first had Kyle Walker and Danny Rose, with an athletic and energetic full-back duo.

Spurs have exciting youngster Ryan Sessegnon to come into the fold at left-back and they are looking for a solution in the right in the transfer market.

TBR’s View:

Aarons achieved promotion from the Championship last season in an impressive Norwich side and made a name for himself as an attack-minded right-back.

The teenager managed three goals and six assists across all competitions last season for a Norwich that play with a great intensity, something they have tried to emulate in the top-flight this year too.

Aarons, 19, is still getting to grips with Premier League action and is part of a backline that have been leaking goals on a regular basis this season.

But the England Under-21 international helped keep a first clean sheet of the league campaign for Norwich at the weekend in the draw with Bournemouth and looked back to his best.

He is such an attacking threat when given a licence to go forward and make overlapping runs, which is why he’s a decent option for Spurs to consider but he’s nowhere near the finished article yet.
