Celtic will battle a host of clubs for Gillingham goalkeeper Joe Walsh, according to reports in Scotland.
According to The Evening Times, Walsh is on the radar of Celtic, Red Bull Leipzig and a trio of English clubs. Everton, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur are all weighing up swoops for the teenager.
Walsh recently signed his first professional contract with Gillingham. He put pen to paper on a three-year deal in Kent, keeping him at Priestfield until summer 2022.

Despite his young age, the 17-year-old already has senior experience under his belt. Walsh played the full 90 minutes in Gillingham’s win over Tottenham U21s in the EFL Trophy in the week.
This impressed Tottenham scouts, who might make a move for the young stopper. But Celtic have watched Walsh regularly this season and could make their move. There were several scouts present at the match last weekend and they were impressed as Walsh kept a clean sheet.
TBR’s view
Walsh is clearly a talent for the future, even if he isn’t an immediate fix for any of these clubs. Celtic’s goalkeeper situation is uncertain with Fraser Forster only on loan and Craig Gordon approaching his final playing days. Walsh would be a prudent option between the sticks.
The 6ft 4in goalkeeper has the physical attributes to shine in the Premier League too. But maybe he fancies a challenge and will join the growing list of young English players moving to the Bundesliga.
