Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho reportedly wants to pull off an unlikely January transfer for Manchester City defender Joao Cancelo.
That is the bold claim from El Desmarque, who say the Portuguese has even been in contact with the ‘unhappy’ player.

Cancelo has had to make do with a bit-part role at the Etihad Stadium since transferring last summer from Juventus.
The 25-year-old – who cost £60 million, offset by Danilo moving to Juve for £34.1 million (BBC Sport) – has made 18 appearances for the club so far, 13 of which have been starts.
Reports did surface in December about Cancelo’s future at the club, with Marca claiming Valencia were keen to re-sign the player.

Pep Guardiola stated he ‘didn’t know’ if Cancelo was happy or not when asked about the player in a press conference (Evening Standard).
Tottenham’s right-back issues have been well documented this season, with Serge Aurier having failed to convince and backups like Juan Foyth and Kyle Walker-Peters seemingly unfancied.
TBR’s view – Cancelo move would be a major surprise
There will be more than a few raised eyebrows if Spurs went and signed Cancelo this month.

Realistically City aren’t going to let Cancelo leave after just five months, especially since there has been very little to separate him and Kyle Walker this season.
Spurs fans would likely love to have him given the lack of quality in the right-back position, but any approach the club make is sure to be rejected.
