Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City are battling to sign teenage Derby County goalkeeper Jack Thompson, according to a report from The Sun on Sunday (3/4; page 61).
Unfortunately, the Rams continue to face an uncertain future with the club still in administration. They are six points adrift of safety in the Championship with six games remaining.

And obviously, one of the concerns of the supporters will be how many more of their best players and brightest prospects will move on while they wait for a new owner to come in.
The Sun on Sunday (3/4; page 61) suggests that Thompson is rated as the best prospect at his age. And he is attracting attention from a host of Premier League heavyweights.

Chelsea were keen before their own ownership problems emerged. And The Sun on Sunday reports that Manchester City and Tottenham are now battling over the 15-year-old.
It is noted that Derby could receive a sizeable fee for the stopper.
Coup for Tottenham if they can beat Manchester City to Thompson deal
Of course, it is too soon to say whether Thompson will realise his full potential. But it says a lot that Spurs, City and Chelsea all want the teenager signed up.
Tottenham do have a number of talented goalkeepers on the books. Brandon Austin signed a new contract with the club just this week. At 23, he will have his sights set on more opportunities around the first-team.
Obviously, Thompson is not at that level yet. He was actually born on the day Jermain Defoe scored twice after a Dimitar Berbatov opener to help Tottenham beat Dinamo Bucharest 3-1 in the UEFA Cup.
But the clubs interested in signing him suggests it would be a real coup if Tottenham could sign Thompson in the near future.
