Belgian outlet Le Soir have claimed that rock-bottom Belgian side Mouscron could look to raid Tottenham Hotspur and lure assistant manager Joao Sacramento away from north London – and make him manager of the top-tier side.

Sacramento, 31, joined Tottenham following the arrival of Jose Mourinho. It comes after he worked as assistant manager in 120 games for Lille – with the French side reaching the Champions League for the 2019-20 campaign.

He previously worked as a scout at Monaco, and has since impressed at Tottenham as the club’s number two. The young Portuguese man has no history of working as a manager, but that could be the next step in his career.

Mouscron are yet to win in nine league games – drawing only three times and losing six. Fernando Da Cruz was sacked by Mouscron over the weekend, and Sacramento worked under him for six matches at Lille during a caretaker period.

TBR’s view – Could Sacramento be tempted to join Mouscron?

Forget their current rock-bottom position, Mouscron are a good side. They finished in a respectable 10th place in Belgium’s top tier last season. They certainly have the quality in their squad to finish far above the relegation zone.

So, could Sacramento be tempted? Certainly, he could really enjoy being given the top role. However, at the age of 31 and his coaching apprenticeship ongoing at one of Europe’s biggest sides – perhaps he would be better served to remain at Spurs.

A move could happen before the January window, given Sacramento is a coach.
