Report: Tottenham are not giving up on Bastoni, Paratici is now ready to offer £42m star in swap deal
The Alessandro Bastoni to Tottenham Hotspur transfer saga looked like it was over after what happened yesterday, but Spurs are now ready to try their luck again with a sensational swap deal bid.
It is no secret at this point that the Italian defender is Antonio Conte’s priority transfer target in this summer window. The two compatriots worked together at Inter Milan for a couple of years, and the Spurs boss now wants a reunion in North London.
Just when it looked like Tottenham were stepping up their attempts to sign Bastoni, the talented defender’s agent came out and claimed yesterday that his client “will stay at Inter for sure.”

Many Spurs fans were left heartbroken, but it looks like Conte and Fabio Paratici aren’t ready to give up just yet.
Tottenham could now offer Davinson Sanchez in swap deal for Alessandro Bastoni
CalcioMercatoWeb revealed yesterday that despite Bastoni’s agent’s comments, Conte is set to try again to sign the Italian defender – this time, with an innovative bid.
The report claims that the new proposal in Conte’s mind now is an offer of £25 million plus Davinson Sanchez in exchange for Bastoni’s services this summer.
That would be a sensational offer considering that Spurs forked out a then club-record £42 million to sign the Colombian defender from Ajax in the summer of 2017 (BBC).
Inter Milan, however, are not keen at all. The only way they will agree to sell Bastoni this summer is if they receive a huge amount of cash; they have absolutely no interest in a swap deal in the upcoming transfer window.
TBR View:
Bastoni is a phenomenal defender, and he would be a sensational signing for Tottenham.
Spurs are right to target him this summer, and an offer of cash plus Sanchez makes a lot of sense as well considering that the Colombian has just not fulfilled his potential since his big-money move to North London six years ago.
However, it doesn’t make any sense for Inter. The only reason they may even be interested in selling Bastoni this summer is to raise funds. A swap deal does not give them that, which is why it’s completely understandable that they are not keen on Spurs’ new proposal.
It will be interesting to see how this pans out in the coming weeks, but as things stand, Bastoni is not leaving Inter Milan for Tottenham.
