Portuguese outlet O Jogo have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United are both interested in signing Benfica striker Haris Seferovic before Friday’s deadline – and the Portuguese side want as much as £25million.

Seferovic, 27, is somewhat experienced in European football after finally finding his home with Benfica. In 107 appearances for the Portuguese side, since joining in the summer of 2017, Seferovic has netted an impressive 40 goals.

However, it has taken the Switzerland international a few clubs to find the ideal home. Just four goals in 40 Sociedad outings, only one in 12 at Fiorentina and just 19 in 96 Frankfurt outings saw him struggle to show his best form.

But moving to Benfica has helped the striker – though this season, his form has dipped. Indeed, he has scored just six in 27 games, 12 of which have come from the bench but despite that, Spurs and West Ham are said to be interested.

TBR’s view – Seferovic could be a decent back-up striker

Given that West Ham and Spurs both want to bring in cover for Harry Kane and Sebastian Haller respectively, landing a player such as Seferovic – who may be willing to sit on the bench – may the best either side can hope for.

If Spurs of West Ham sign any better players, they would expect to start. However, one issue is his £25million asking price – though it is a lot smaller than his £51million release clause. It remains to be seen if Spurs or West Ham will try for Seferovic.
