Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United have reportedly both made enquiries about midfielder Marcelo Brozovic.

According to a report from Calciomercato, the two London clubs have tried to get information on the Croatia international, who has two years remaining on his contract with Inter Milan.

The 27-year-old has been with I Nerazzurri since January 2015 after joining from Dinamo Zagreb (initially on loan), and is considered one of Serie A’s top holding midfielders.

To date he’s clocked up 200 first-team Inter appearances, contributing 23 goals and 25 assists.

Last season was a particularly strong one for Brozovic, with him being key in Inter’s journey to the Europa League final.

The Italians came unstuck against Sevilla, but Brozovic again caught the eye and afterwards was named in the Europa League squad of the season by UEFA.

Tottenham and West Ham are apparently not the only team to have been sniffing; Bayern Munich, who could be losing Thiago Alcantara, are named in another Calciomercato report, as are AS Monaco.

TBR’s View – West Ham need Brozovic more

Spurs have a plethora of midfield options right now, including new signing Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, so Jose Mourinho would need to sell one or two to make room.

By contrast, West Ham need to add to their engine room, with Mark Noble not getting any younger and Jack Wilshere’s injury record well documented.

Brozovic is someone who is capable of completely dictating the flow of games from deep positions, and currently the Hammers are lacking that kind of individual.

He would not come cheap – the Daily Mail reported in April that the player is protected by a release clause of around £52 million.

Since he only has two years left, Inter are unlikely to refer suitors to that figure, but West Ham’s starting XI would be drastically improved with him in it.
