Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United have already asked about Sporting midfielder Matheus Nunes, while Record suggests that they are not the only Premier League clubs interested in the 23-year-old.

Nunes has endured a tough week. He was part of the Sporting side that were thrashed in the first-leg of their Champions League last 16 tie with Manchester City.

The damage looks to have been done ahead of the rematch. But that did not stop Pep Guardiola claiming that Nunes is ‘one of the best players in the world‘.

And it seems that several teams are now hoping to bring him to the Premier League. Record reports that Spurs, Newcastle, Everton and Wolves all want the Portugal international.

In fact, they have all already asked about a potential move. Nunes is said to be valued at around £35 million.

Certainly, Nunes would have the potential to be an extremely exciting signing for his admirers. He is superb in possession, whether he is looking to pass the ball or carry it forward.

He also reads the game extremely well. Guardiola’s praise definitely highlights the potential he would have.

Tottenham may well want to improve their midfield options this summer. They signed Rodrigo Bentancur in January. And Oliver Skipp has been superb.

However, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has struggled to recapture his form from his first season. And Harry Winks has had a mixed time over the last few years.

Seeing off competition from Newcastle may not be easy however. The pair are already involved in the race to sign Franck Kessie.

The Magpies will have massive plans should they stay up. And improving their midfield by offering £35 million for Nunes may make a lot of sense to Eddie Howe’s men.

Everton and Wolves however, cannot be discounted. The Toffees have shown real ambition in the market in the past. And Wolves, of course, have a strong connection with Portuguese players.
