Italian outlet FC Inter News have claimed both Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United remain interested in signing Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek, after first being linked in the summer.
Van de Beek, 22, is the latest of a long list of Ajax stars that are interesting Europe’s powerhouses after Matthijs de Ligt left to join Juventus, while Frenkie de Jong moved to Barcelona after both enjoyed stunning 2018-19 campaigns.
Now, van de Beek is the latest name to crop up on Champions League side’s shortlists. In the summer, the report claims Barcelona, Real Madrid, Tottenham, Liverpool, Napoli Inter Milan and Roma were all keen.
Van de Beek’s asking price of £70million was not met, though. The interested parties deemed the figure too high, but the latest report claims Tottenham and now Manchester United remain on van de Beek’s long list of admirers.
TBR’s view – Van de Beek would be incredible for Spurs or United
The goalscoring midfielder would be superb in the Premier League. Van de Beek has now clocked up a huge 150 appearances for Ajax despite his young age, and scored 34 goals – as well as laying on 29 assists.
But it is not just his creativity and eye for goal that makes van de Beek a steal at £70million. It is that he is one of the most technically-gifted players of his age, and can pass a ball like a player well beyond his young age.
