Report: Tottenham and Manchester United interested in South American manager

The Evening Standard claim Tottenham and Manchester United are still keen on hiring Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Pochettino, 49, has not won over all PSG fans since joining the club in January 2021. Of the 49 games he has taken charge of, he has won 34.

But he has lost nine times, failing to deliver PSG into the final of the Champions League last term – and only finishing second in Ligue 1.

Pochettino has signed a PSG contract until June 2023 – meaning he will cost a large compensation fee for either Tottenham or United.

But it is claimed that both Premier League clubs ‘covet’ the South American gaffer. However, the report states that PSG are not entertaining his exit.

Manchester United and Tottenham eye Pochettino: Any chance?

Both Tottenham and Manchester United could be on the lookout for a new manager in the coming weeks and months. United, most definitely.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s tenure is hanging by a thread at United, following the 5-0 loss to Liverpool at Old Trafford. Tottenham are next up.

If Spurs and Nuno Espirito Santo beat United, you would expect Solskjaer could lose his job. Santo, meanwhile, is also under pressure at Spurs.

However, he has won five of nine league games – and still looks good to qualify for the ECL knockout stages. Spurs are still in the Carabao Cup.

Solskjaer looks more likely to go than Nuno – but Pochettino does not look like he is leaving PSG any time soon.
