Italian website CalcioMercato have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and other European heavyweights have guaranteed Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic an ‘important contract’ ahead of the January window.

Milenkovic, 23, has already surpassed 100 appearances for Fiorentina – as well as clocking up 23 caps for Serbia. He has emerged, over the past couple of seasons, as one of the best central defenders in Serie A with La Viola.

West Ham made a £20million bid for Milenkovic in the summer, as per the Mail, which was rejected by Fiorentina. It is believed there has been an agreement with AC Milan for some time – but now, Spurs and other clubs have looked to sway him.

Antonio Conte’s Inter, Diego Simeone’s Atletico, Man United and Spurs have all made advances to sign Milenkovic – and are said to have promised the defender an ‘important contract’. Fiorentina rate Milenkovic at a fee of £36million (Football Italia).

TBR’s view – Milenkovic would be a top signing for any PL side

Comfortable on the ball, physically a beast, dominant in the air and the passing ability of a midfielder – Milenkovic has all the tools required to become one of the best central defenders in European football. At £36million, he is a bargain.

Spurs, United and the rest of the Premier League’s biggest sides have got to be keeping tabs on Milenkovic at that price. If he is available in January, it is a no-brainer for those interested to sign him at that figure.
