Report: Tottenham and Everton to battle for Wilfried Zaha
Tottenham and Everton are eyeing up a swoop on Crystal Palace to sign Wilfried Zaha, according to a report by Goal.
The Eagles trickster is linked with a move from Selhurst Park during every transfer window and it seems as though this summer won’t break tradition.
During 2020/21, the 28-year-old scored 11 goals and claimed two assists during 31 outings for the London-based club.
The report claims that Zaha could be available for around £40 million, with just two years left on his current deal.
Palace fear that he’ll be reluctant to pen a new deal and might well consider a sale in the coming months.
Everton previously made a bid of £70 million in the summer of 2019, making two offers for the winger.
Tottenham have been linked in the past but could now make a concrete move for the player during the transfer window.
Zaha is in his second spell with Palace and is seven appearances shy of 400 outings for the club.
He has scored 68 goals and registered 72 assists during his time with the Eagles and it clearly their star attraction.
A move to Manchester United earlier in his career didn’t work out, making just four appearances during his time at Old Trafford.
It is thought that the player would like another crack at playing for one of the Premier League’s big-hitters again.
TBR View: Both Everton and Tottenham provide attractive propositions
Zaha is a talented individual and he’d almost certainly welcome the chance to move to either of the two interested clubs.
Tottenham are desperate for some more quality in the final third, whilst Everton are striving for consistency.
Given that he could be available for a fraction of what he was valued at a few years ago, he could prove a quality signing.
The £130,000-a-week flyer could have other clubs interested in him too, with speculation likely to intensify.
Zaha has proven himself time and time again for Palace and nobody at the club could begrudge him a move.
Tottenham and Everton look set for an interesting battle and it’ll be intriguing to see how this rumour plays out.
