Real Betis will demand a hefty transfer fee to let Tottenham Hotspur and Everton target Giovani Lo Celso leave this summer, according to reports.
Mundo Deportivo reports that Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Everton and Tottenham are all keen on Lo Celso. But he will cost more than £50m.
After a successful season on loan at Betis, Lo Celso’s loan move from Paris Saint-Germain has become permanent. Betis are only willing to sell him on at a sizeable profit.
The Argentina international has a €100m release clause (around £88m). But it is believed that Betis will accept offers of around €60m for Lo Celso. This would require a transfer fee north of the £50m mark from Everton or Tottenham.
Lo Celso is an exciting midfield playmaker who can operate centrally or out wide. The 23-year-old has lit up the Spanish top-flight this season, scoring 16 goals and providing six assists for Betis.
Everton and Spurs are both in the market for creative reinforcements in the midfield ranks. But Lo Celso’s £50m-plus asking price could be a problem.
Marco Silva is weighing up his options in the transfer market, while Mauricio Pochettino is finally set to spend some money after two windows without signing a player.
But Lo Celso’s price tag is not the only stumbling block. Atletico and Barcelona’s interest make this a tricky challenge for the English pair.
