Report: Tottenham among clubs still keen on Mikkel Damsgaard; Juventus also in the mix
Tottenham are still keen on signing Denmark and Sampdoria midfielder, Mikkel Damsgaard, with reports in Italy suggesting a number of clubs are interested.
Damsgaard made a name for himself over the summer when he produced some fine displays for Denmark in the Euros. In particular, he caught the eye with a stunner against England at Wembley.
Tuttosport claim that Damsgaard is a wanted man this summer. Their report claims that Spurs head the interest from abroad, while in Italy, the duo of Inter and AC Milan are ‘on the front row’.
Liverpool were also said to be interested in Damsgaard in the summer, when a figure of around £43m was said to be the asking-price.
Damsgaard is still just 21 and is one of the hottest properties in Europe as things stand. Despite being yet to score this term, he is still one of Sampdoria’s more integral players.
Spurs made some big moves in the summer window to add to the squad for Nuno Santo. But they’re expected to go again next summer, with Fabio Paratici keen to exploit his links to Serie A.
TBR’s View: Damsgaard hot property and someone who can improve Tottenham
Especially so, if he can get back to the levels he showed in the summer.
Damsgaard has so much going for him but you get the impression he needs to move from Sampdoria to make that big next step. The Italian side are a big club in their own right, but Damsgaard can push even higher.
Tottenham are right to be interested here, though. And with Paratici knowing the market well, they’ve every chance of getting their man.
