Report: Tottenham already have eyes on signing £42m midfielder on bargain free transfer next summer
Tottenham Hotspur’s recruitment team are already eyeing up a move for Franck Kessie next summer, Football London report.
Move in the pipeline
Tottenham have their eyes open for bargains, and feel that Kessie could fit into that category in a year’s time.
The Ivorian only has a year left on his contract at AC Milan, meaning he could be available on a free transfer next summer, and it is a deal which apparently appeals to Spurs.
Nuno’s side actually were linked with Kessie this summer, but AC Milan’s current £42 million asking price may have put them off somewhat (Gazetta), given his contractual situation.
Tottenham are now set to keep a close watch on the 24-year-old, before potentially moving to bring him to North London next year.
Tottenham were trying to do a similar deal for Barcelona’s Ilaix Moriba this summer.
Spurs sensed the opportunity to sign the youngster and pushed hard to make it happen, but they weren’t happy to offer him the same money as RB Leipzig, and he has now picked the Bundesliga side instead.
Ready to go
Kessie looks like a player who is more ready to go straight into Tottenham’s first-team if he does sign, though.
The powerhouse has been a mainstay for AC Milan recently and really caught the eye last term.
If he was brought to Spurs it would be interesting to see exactly how he fits in.
Tottenham already have Pierre Emile Hojbjerg, while Nuno seems to really trust Oliver Skipp.
Tottenham will also have Pape Sarr joining them next season, after they brought him to the club this summer, but quickly loaned him to Metz.
