Tottenham are reportedly ahead of the rest when it comes to landing Milan Skriniar from Inter Milan, as the race for the defender continues to gather pace.
According to Tuttosport in Italy, Spurs are ‘intensifying’ their efforts to land the Slovakian star, who has been a standout defensive figure in Italy for a few years now.
Spurs are said to be amongst a host of clubs keen on the 25-year-old. Indeed, the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City are both though to have cast their eye over him in the past. But with City landing Nathan Ake and United concentrating on Jadon Sancho for now, the door could well be open for Spurs.
Skriniar is said to be a big fan of Jose Mourinho and previously remarked that he was honoured to be praised by the Spurs boss.
This, then, could well play nicely into the hands of the north London club. However, no deal is close as yet, with the report stating that Skriniar’s future could depend on Antonio Conte staying in Milan or not.
A signing of real quality and one to be excited about – TBR View
Spurs need to be looking at players who can really improve the first XI and Milan Skriniar is definitely in that category.
He is a class act, capable of marshalling even the best centre-forwards on his day. Not only that, but he would appear suited to the Premier League given his strength and sometimes no-nonsense approach to defending.
Skriniar has been brilliant for Inter and it’s somewhat a surprise to see them open to a sale. But that will only benefit Mourinho and Spurs, who’ll be hoping to seal the deal sharpish.
